brantly An incredible LP that is a composite of various bands and eras, but remains a unique take on dark synth post-punk. Akin to bands like the insultingly underrated Second Layer, '17 Seconds' era Cure and contemporaries like Soft moon and Bat Nouveau, but what's cool is that is also sounds like a dark-wave take on a narcoleptic 'Chairs Missing' era Wire, or even sometimes a synth-ey goth rock version of 1981-era Sad Giants and Lovers as heard through an opiated Berlin haze...fucking killer!

Mark the Dark If The Cures' "Pornography" would have had sexual intercourse with Joy Divisions' "Unknown Pleasures" in a dark and rainy night on a cliff in cornwall in 1983, the child that would have been born in a foggy sinister backalley of Birmingham would have been Veil of Light!
Static Cold

Static Cold When I first heard 'Pale Eyes' & 'Shoulders', it felt like I had been violently slaped in the face by a comforting friend and awaken from a reign of boredom. These are such powerful tunes to let it all out : anger, rejection, frustrations ... and yet there is this intimate atmosphere, lingering beauty and melancholy in each track. Looks like I've found in Veil of Light the ultimate companion of my sleepless nights. Favorite track: Pale Eyes.

about

At first Veil of Light might come across as cold. It’s an easy mistake to make, their grand gothgaze is certainly steeped in melancholy and desolation. But as you become enveloped in the crystalline synth swaths, the mechanical rhythms, and the screeching guitar feedback, you feel a oddly at ease. Comforted. Like pulling your coat tighter as you walk down a empty, rain-wet autumn street.
